Welcome to Fairfield County
Fairfield County, located in the Olde English
District of South Carolina between Columbia, SC and Charlotte, NC via
I-77 and is rich with history and agriculture. The county name is believed to have originated with Lord Cornwallis, when in 1780-1781 during the Revolutionary War, he and his British Troops wintered in Winnsboro. While taking in the view of the surrounding area from his second floor window, Cornwallis declared “Oh, What Fair Fields, . . ” thus Fairfield County.

Fairfield County Ag + Art Tour Sites
F1. Fairfield Farmers and Artisans Market
F2. Gypsy Wind Farms
specializes in registered Barbados Blackbelly Sheep and Mangalitsa
Pigs. Barbados Blackbelly sheep are considered a ‘recovering’ breed,
however; there were fewer than 1500 registered in the US at the time of
the last census. Our Mangalitsa is a Hungarian swine breed and the last
long-haired breed in existence. Our animals are quite special!
We produce high-quality, naturally-raised Pork, Chicken, Lamb and eggs.
Our goal is to be a sustainable farm and the first net-zero farm in Fairfield County. Stop by and check out our Solar Array and learn more about our farm.
- Guided and self-guided walking tours of the farm.
- We will have live music, and a petting area for the children.
- Sunstore Solar will be here explaining and demonstrating Solar Electric.
- Congaree Milling Company will be demonstrating the art of milling.
F3. Hanna Hands Farm
We are a small sustainable meat and fiber farm. We raise heritage Dominick chickens, Bourbon Red Turkeys, sheep and rabbits. We have Angora goats and Alpacas that we shear for fiber. We offer fresh eggs, rabbit, chicken and some pork products. We have luxurious alpaca products, including yarn.
F4. Meadow Lou Farm
Lou Farm, LLC is a family run homesteading farm. We raise farm fresh
vegetables in a healthy way, focusing on sustainability. We raise grass
fed beef cattle and free range chickens. Meadow Lou Farm received
recognition as a Century Farm this year. The farm is 150 years old and
been in our family for 110 years. We have an onsite farmstore where you
can buy farm fresh vegetables and other farm fresh items.
- We will have BBQ plates, cotton candy, and Kettle Korn for sale. There will be live music from a local band, kids activities and games. We will have a Certified Survivalist Instructor here demonstrating survival skills.
F5. REDS Farm
We'll have seasonal produce, eggs, & honey for sale. People can tour the barn and property to see chickens, pigs, dairy goats (possibly some new babies will be born before that weekend), miniature horse and donkey. See 3 working beehives, too.
- Watercolor painting classes for both kids and adults (two classes on Saturday, June 16 and one on Sunday, June 17).
F6. The Barclay School
The Barclay School is as different as its kids! We are a small, non-profit school for creative students who learn differently. Our hands-on curriculum involves chickens, bees and a vegetable garden. We will be glad to share our honey and eggs, as well as freshly roasted coffee beans from a women’s fair trade farm in Guatemala that the students roast and package themselves. And pick up some “Bunnies Brew” on your way through, too! This is our green fundraiser of legend! Made by the students, (with some help from Toby, our resident bunny), this amazing fertilizer tea is beautifully presented in recycled wine bottles that is sure to make any gardener smile!
F7. The Pearl at Monticello
A majestic event venue built around the
historic Davis Robinson House. The
moment you turn onto the live oak and pecan tree lined drive, you step back
into a simpler time. The federal style
house was designed by Robert Mills and built in the very early 1800’s. Originally a cotton plantation and livestock
farm, the property is most notable as the home of the first brahman cattle
brought into the US in the late-1840’s.
Come enjoy a cold beverage, Steel Horse BBQ or a delightful dessert
while taking in the best views of Lake Monticello in an elegant rustic wedding
setting. We will offer guided home
tours as well as walking tours throughout the plantation.
Home tours, Livestock tours, Event Barn tours (if complete).
F8. The She Garden
A fun, eclectic experience of how to grow and farm in recycled materials and containers. Visit our whimsical studio space with unusual garden creations. See our wine bottle house with a growing roof for herbs and container gardening in file cabinet drawers and other unusual items. Don’t forget to visit with our free-range chickens and ducks!
